June, 2005
June 29, 2005: Journalisming is hard work, but I'm up to it. While the FEC considers possible free speech restrictions on blogs, I remind you, I'm already an on-line magazine.
June 24, 2005: The New McCarthyism. Republicans, out of ideas, resort to calling those who disagree with them traitors.
June 11, 2005: Destroying the rules. Republicans move ever closer to declaring one-party rule. Who'd have thought violations of Robert's Rules of Order could be so scary.
June 10, 2005: Screw my alma mater. Inside source says the ousting of St. Olaf's college president was a conservative hit job.
"Legal experts say there is no law against using feces as a flag stand"
May, 2005
May 2, 2005: Here we go again. Not only is it morally wrong, if we don't start learning from our foreign policy mistakes.... Well, it's bad, m'kay?
Self-parody. No retouch required.
April, 2005
April 27, 2005: Stop the Freezer Moms? I guess you can file this under strange but satirical? True but snarky?
April 26, 2005: Max Baucus, on the News Hour. Came right out and said you can't trust the republicans to negotiate in good faith. Waiting for transcript.
April 26, 2005: Pharisees. In response to a post from new BOP News member, RJ Eskow.
ON MAY 15, 2005 across the United States people opposed to the war in Iraq will identify themselves with one of the Iraqi dead by wearing a number between1 and 100,000. Please support this effort and get your own number by clicking on the logo below.
April 11, 2005: Well, I've been really busy the last couple of weeks. I surface long enough to do a couple of news items (yesterday) and comment on DeLay's troubles in Is he toast yet?
March, 2005
March 31, 2005: A civics lesson for James Dobson. From the pointless-exercise-in-snarkiness department, as Dobson is a dedicated theocrat who cares not a whit for the constitution.
Our new (cough) Secretary of State sure dresses the part, eh? She's also up for a cameo on Star Trek and appears in the next episode of Star Wars as an assistant to Darth Vader.
March 6, 2005: Geek Rant. On XML, feeds and the standards crowd and why they should talk to an end-user once in a while. Or maybe go outside and get rained on. Or something.
March 5, 2005: Goo goo ga choob. 2nd email in my inbox this morning brought me this. A link to a Beatle's parody cover. Actual recording available for download there...

February, 2005
February 28, 2005: Gah! Googlebot. What, can't read my robots.txt file, all of a sudden?
February 27, 2005: The ProgBlog Research Center is open. What the heck is that? Well, surprise, I wrote an article to explain that. In short, it's a search engine, directory and headline archive for the Indy Weblogs community and their readers.
February 22, 2005: Again, not so swift. The lovely (ahem) people who brought us the Swift Boat Vets are working on another tasteful campaign. This time, they're going after the AARP. You might have seen the ad. But in a Dr. Laniac exclusive, I have the next ad in the campaign!
February 18, 2005: Joementum the Useless. I just heard him endorsing John Negroponte as the choice for National Intelligence Director. Plus, is it just me, or is this water we're in getting warmer?
February 11, 2005: Letters, we get letters.... Monkey Mail.

February 11, 2005: The debate over that border control plan in Congress ( here, here, and here) has a lot of people wearing tinfoil hats. Including people in Congress and their staffs. I think there's a misunderstanding about why the "waiver of all laws" phrase is in there, but once it's there, it's scary either way.
February 10, 2005: Whoa! Senator Franken? He's good enough, he's smart enough and doggone it, people like him. [update: Nope, not so much. He says he's gonna keep doing Air America Radio. 2008 is still on the table.]
February 1, 2005: Reminder, the vote on Gonzales is coming up this week. Contact your senators. See this newsfare post for more info.
January, 2005
January 25, 2005: No on Gonzales. Adding my voice. From DailyKos: With this nomination, we have arrived at a crossroads as a nation. Now is the time for all citizens of conscience to stand up and take responsibility for what the world saw, and, truly, much that we have not seen, at Abu Ghraib and elsewhere. We oppose the confirmation of Alberto Gonzales as Attorney General of the United States, and we urge the Senate to reject him.
January 21, 2005: Defending the Republic. An editorial from 1792, during a battle for the future of democracy in America, retains its currency.
January 6, 2005: The Boxer Rebellion. Complain about one Senator, the other comes through. Thanks, Senator Boxer!
January 1, 2005: Happy New Year. New year's resolutions? Bah humbug. But I will be back with daily news headlines (rather than semi-weekly), new articles, new music and new cut-n-paste cartoons like Spock and Cheney, here.
